Questions people ask first

Thirteen answers, including the ones that are not flattering.

Invoices and terms

Are the prices with or without VAT?

The big figure in the price matrix is the monthly rate excluding VAT, because that is the number a business compares. Under it, smaller, is the same rate with 21% VAT and the amount actually billed for the whole term. The invoice arrives as a PDF by email on the day the payment lands. If you have a VAT ID in another EU country, put it in the order and we invoice under the reverse charge.

How are the euro and koruna prices related?

They are two separate price lists, not one converted into the other. Switch the currency in the top strip and every figure on the site changes with it. Nothing is recalculated at the daily rate, so a weak koruna does not move your invoice. You are billed in the currency you ordered in and it stays that way until you ask for the other one.

Can I move up a plan, or back down?

Both directions work. Going up happens the same day: we take the unused part of what you already paid off the new invoice, so nothing is lost by moving in the middle of a term. Going down waits for the end of the paid period, and your data has to fit in the smaller disk first. We will tell you how much you are over before anything is switched.

What is the free .cz domain exactly?

On the yearly and three year terms of R2 50 and R2 200 we register one .cz domain and do not charge for the first year. It is registered in your name, not ours, so you can move it away the same week if you decide to leave. From the second year it renews at the ordinary registrar price. R2 10 does not include it.

Does the price go up when it renews?

No. A year of R2 50 costs 59.99 EUR now and the same next time. There is no introductory rate here that triples in the second year, which is also why the first year looks less spectacular than elsewhere. If we ever change the price list, existing accounts keep their rate to the end of the paid term and hear about it by email.

How do I cancel, and can I get the money back?

One email from the address on the account, or a click in the panel. The subscription is set to renew, so stopping it is a real step you have to take; we email you before every renewal so it never arrives as a surprise. Once stopped, the service runs to the end of the period you already paid for. Within 30 days of the order we return the money without asking why. After those 30 days the paid term is not refunded, which is the honest half of the deal.

Living with the account

What happens when the disk fills up?

You get an email at 90% of the disk, while there is still room to act. If it does fill completely, uploads and new email stop and the site usually keeps serving, but a database that cannot write will throw errors. In practice the space is nearly always old backups, logs or a copy of the site made before an update. We will look and say which it is. The word "unlimited" is not used anywhere on this site, and this is one of the reasons.

How do backups and restores work?

Backups run daily onto separate storage. R2 10 keeps 7 days, R2 50 keeps 14, R2 200 keeps 30. You restore one site, one database or one mailbox from the control panel yourself, without opening a ticket. If you would rather not touch it, we do the restore for you at no charge, and we do not ask who deleted the data.

Which PHP versions can I run?

Anything from 5.6 to 8.4, chosen separately for every site, and switching back takes a minute if the new version breaks something. The old branches are here for applications nobody can upgrade any more. We keep them running, we just will not pretend that an unpatched PHP 5.6 facing the internet is a good idea.

What does the limit on PHP processes mean?

It is the number of requests your sites can compute at the same moment: 5 on R2 10, 15 on R2 50, 40 on R2 200. Static files and cached pages do not count, only PHP that is actually running. Over the limit, requests queue rather than fail. A normal page takes tens of milliseconds, so 15 processes carry a lot more than 15 visitors. A slow plugin doing an external API call on every page load is what eats them.

Can I run a shop here?

Yes, and plenty do. WooCommerce, PrestaShop or Shoptet exports run fine on R2 50, and R2 200 exists for the ones with a large catalogue and a feed for every comparison site. Where shared hosting stops being the right place is a shop that needs a long running queue worker, its own database tuning, or a guaranteed core during a sale campaign. Then it is time for a VPS.

When something is wrong

How fast does support actually answer?

On a working day, usually within a couple of hours, often much sooner. In the evening and at the weekend it can be the next morning unless the machine itself is down, in which case somebody is already awake and working on it. We would rather write that here than promise a number we would miss in August.

My site is down. What do I do first?

Write to us with the domain and the exact time it started, and if you can, paste the error. Do not reinstall anything and do not restore a backup over the top, because that erases the evidence and sometimes the fix. If the fault is ours, you will know within minutes and an email goes to every affected account. If it is inside your application, we will say so and point at the line in the log.

Questions before you order are welcome and get the same treatment as questions from an account that pays. Send the domain and what runs on it.
